Pump for inflatables: what to choose according to the inflatable

Choosing the right pump for inflatables is a matter concerning quality and reliability of the product and, above all, the use you will make of it.

Since the market offers a variety of opportunities both from a technical and an economic point of view, with a wide price range, learning more about inflators is necessary; first, in order to narrow down the field and choose the inflatable pump that best suits your needs, it is important to know the main factors of product diversification.

What to consider in order to choose the right inflatable pump

The first aspect to obviously take into consideration is the maximum achievable power of your device: an inflatable boat needs more power and pressure to be inflated correctly than a mattress, so buying a pump without a pressure gauge could prove to be a totally useless expense.

In the same way, even if the maximum power of the device were the minimum required by the inflatable, this would certainly inflate, but with much more effort and in extended times, in addition to the fact that using the device constantly at the limit would almost certainly involve its excessive degradation over time.

The second aspect concerns the "human" sphere, that is fatigue, directly proportional to the power and pressure.

Then, we have to add the physical characteristics of the object, such as dimensions and weight, which obviously must be taken into consideration if you know you need to carry by hand.

Last but not least, the economic aspect: each pump should be evaluated based on what you need, the frequency of its use, the power, the materials used, the warranty.

What to consider in order to choose the right inflatable pump

Foot pump for inflatables

Foot pumps are the simplest and cheapest devices, very used on the beach.

At Scoprega, we base the production of foot inflators on 3 key principles: simplicity, stability and high performance.

Ideal for inflating kayaks, kites and towing inflatables, they are produced with a reinforced fabric band and, in the case of the double chamber models with 800mbar maximum pressure, such as the GP10, also large fabric or rubber dinghies can be used.

Hand pump for inflatables

Light but slightly bulkier than the foot inflator, the hand pump is another very versatile product, which can satisfy the most diverse technical and budget needs..

Ideal for any type of inflatable and, with a little patience and good biceps, even for sup and dinghies, compared to foot pump they offer certainly faster inflation operations, thanks to the wider movement that allows you to channel higher quantities of air and thanks also to the double flow function (i.e. inflation of the piston both up and down), but also greater performance in terms of maximum pressure (up to 2 bar!)

Each of our models is provided with a kit of inflation fittings for all the most common valves, find out more > https://www.scoprega.it/en/products/inflators/hand-pumps/

Which Inflatable Pump

Electric pump for inflatables

The queen of the sector, designed for those who do not want to waste time and prefer to maximize the fun experience: the electric inflatable pump is perfect for any type of inflatable but certainly offers its best performance with large tubulars.

Increasingly appreciated and purchased by SUP and kite practitioners, the pump for electric inflatables is easy to use and ranges from 12 volts, which can therefore also be operated with the cigarette lighter of the car, to 230 volts, with great results in terms of performance. For example, a successful Scoprega model is the GE 25, with 12 volts and 1.5 bar maximum oressure, capable of filling a 500-liter tank in less than 8 minutes.
